Before using a crucible for the first time, the crucible must be preheated slowly. This gently removes moisture, the crucible has absorbed. Failure to preheat, will result in flaking/cracking/contamination of melted metals. Use a crucible prep. like Boric Acid, dissolved into the hot crucible.....(Graphite Only)
